Meet Emily Lamunyan. Emily, our newest Senior Digital Strategist, came to us from the Timbers, where she was the Director of Marketing for seven years. You may remember her from our Social Media in Sports panel we hosted last year. Here are her Five Things.
I grew up in a small town in Western Massachusetts as a huge New England sports fan. We had Red Sox season tickets and went to as many Celtics games as possible. Our pet parakeet’s name was Larry Bird. I wasn’t much into soccer (as is the case with most New Englanders) until I moved to Portland and adopted the Portland Timbers and Thorns as my only non-NE teams.
I’ve always had a love for the great outdoors. My husband Greg, our dog Nalu and I get outside as much as possible. My favorite part about living in the NW is that there is always another trail to explore, campsite to discover and amazing view to take in.
craftingI am lucky to have found a career that allows me to think creatively on a day-to-day basis. I like to credit those skills to my early days of spin art, creepy crawlers, and gimp. Now, twenty years later, I discovered the adult version – craft club. We meet every few months to create awesome things (and for an excuse to drink mimosas). Nothing beats a good craft club sesh.
4) Field HOCKEY
Yes, it’s a real sport, one that most Oregonians know nothing about. I started playing at age 8 and played through college. My claim to fame is that we made it to the Division I Elite Eight my junior year where we lost to Duke – stupid Duke. My hope is that one day field hockey will make its way to Oregon so everyone can see how truly awesome it is.
I’ve always been that friend who brings a camera everywhere. A hobby that began with taking photos of friends at high school parties lead me to a semester studying photography in Prague where I focused on shooting, developing and printing B&W film. While my days of developing film may be over (or are on a very long hiatus), my current passion is digitally photographing the most beautiful mountain and ocean views I can find.
